South Korean telco LG Uplus has signed a deal to export 5G Virtual Reality (VR) content to its Taiwanese counterpart Chunghwa Telecom, the company said on Thursday.
The Korean telco said it was its fourth of such deals __ following those it made with China Telecom in October last year and Hong Kong Telecom and Japan’s KDDI earlier this year.
It has exported a combined US$10 million worth of 5G contents to these telcos so far, LG Uplus said.
The telco will be exporting around 180 VR contents related to K-Pop and 5G technology to Chunghwa, it said.
LG Uplus had a total of 1,500 VR contents on its VR platform dubbed Uplus VR, the telco added.
Meanwhile, Chunghwa Telecom is the largest in Taiwan, followed by Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone.
Korean telco SK Telecom has agreed to export its 5G technology to Taiwan Mobile back in February. KT signed an agreement with FarEasTone to co-develop 5G services and contents back in April.
