Intel and Samsung Medison are developing a new smart workflow solutions to improve obstetric measurements that can help to increase maternal and fetal safety, the companies said.
One of the solutions, BiometryAssist, will use Intel Core i3 processor, Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit and OpenCV library.
One click will allow fetal measurements done within 85ms with 97% accuracy, Samsung said.
The accurate result provided consistently will allow doctors to spend more time with their patients, the company said.
Another solution, LaborAssist, helps doctors estimate fetal angle of progression and head direction. This will allow doctors and patients to understand the fetal descent and determine the best method for delivery. This will also help reduce the number of unnecessary cesarean sections.
BiometryAssist and LaborAssist are already in use in 80 countries, including the United States, Korea, Italy, France, Brazil and Russia, Samsung and Intel said.
The solutions received Class 2 clearance by the FDA in 2020.
The pair will continue to collaborate in technologies such as nerve tracking, SW beamforming and AI module to apply in ultrasounds, they added.
