LG Chem and SK Innovation has again engaged in a public battle of words over their electric vehicle (EV) battery patent lawsuit.
SK Innovation claimed LG Chem’s allegations made during their lawsuits at US International Trade Commission (ITC) that the company destroyed evidence were all lies. LG Chem retaliated and by saying the final results of the ITC lawsuit will show whose argument was right.
Earlier on September 11, SK Innovation said it turned in forensix evidence to the ITC that showed that all the evidence LG Chem has claimed that it has destroyed were intact.
LG Chem is claiming that Patent 994 used by SK Innovation was developed by LG Chem. SK Innovation used various prototype such as A7 made by LG Chem before filing Patent 994, LG Chem has claimed.
SK Innovation said LG Chem was making forced arguments and distorting the truth to change the focus of the lawsuits.
LG Chem said it was unfortunate that SK Innovation continue to make claims outside the ITC as if it is true. LG Chem said Office of Unfair Important Investigations under the ITC is also expected to release an official judgment on the matter and the company will take part in its legal proceedings sincerely.
The two companies are involved in three lawsuits at the ITC. LG Chem’s lawsuit against SK Innovation filed in April last year got an initial judgment which accepted LG Chem’s arguments The final judgment will come out on October 5.
