Showa Denko Materials, the semiconductor material subsidiary of Showa Denko, will build a new slurry factory in South Korea.
The new chemical mechanical polish (CMP) slurry factory will be built in Ansan, according to Japanese media The Chemical Daily.
The factory is expected begin production in October next year.
CMP slurry is sued to flattened silicon wafers. There is rising demand for them due to high demand for 3D NAND.
Showa Denko is also expanding its CMP slurry line in Taiwan by January 2022.
