South Korean automobile component maker Mando has wrapped up the development of its Gen 2 integrated dynamic brake (IDB) aimed at electric vehicles.

The company is aiming to start manufacturing them during the first quarter of 2022.

It is seeking to supply them to Chinese automobile brands SAIC, Dongfeng and Canoo.

IDB integrates brake booster and electronic stability control into one break.

The brake can work through electric signals, making them optimal for autonomous automobiles.

Mando said it doubled the motor and electronic control unit on the brakes, which increases safety levels.

The brake can function when the battery line is down thanks to this structure, the company said.

Mando expects to manufacture 600,000 units of IDB and is aiming to produce 3.3 million units in 2026.

It had supplied its IDB to Hyundai Motor, General Motors and Ford so far.
