This compares with the period between 2014 and 2017 when the market showed 3 straight years of decline. Another notable feature was the rise of Chinese companies such as Huawei Technologies and ZTE.
Huawei was at first place with a 28% market share, followed by Nokia with 16% that reflects a 1 percentage point decline on-year. In third place was Swedish firm Ericsson that had a 14% market share. ZTE’s market share grew 2 percentage points from 2018 to 10% to rank at 4th place. Cisco was at 5th place with a 7% market share, which was down 1 percentage point from 2018.
Transmission and RAN equipment were the best-sellers, such as broadband access, microwave & transport, and mobile core & radio access networks that combined account for 55% of the entire equipment sold in 2019, said Dell O’ro.
