LG Uplus will build LTE-Railway (LTE-R) networks for 26 stations of Seoul’s subway system, the telco said Thursday.
The company will replace the current outdated wireless equipment those that use very high frequency (VHF), installed on Line 4 with LTE-R, it said.
LTE-R will allow trains, monitoring centers and maintenance crew to communicate through voice, video and data effectively, LG Uplus said.
Train drivers will be able to view stations 400 meters before arrival when the network installation is complete.
CCTV footage inside the train will also be shared with monitoring centers, allowing staff to react faster to events.
