SK Telecom has won an award from Small Cell Forum (SCF) for its 4G, 5G dual mode RF repeater, the company said.
The South Korean telco won the Commercial Small Cell Design & Technology category at SCF Small Cell Awards 2020.
The repeaters are used to amplify signals to expand coverage in buildings, tunnels or underground areas. SK Telecom commercialized the dual mode RF repeater in December lat year.
SK Telecom said it collaborated with Deutsche Telekom to optimize the repeaters for Europe’s 5G environment. It tested them in Germany on March and will commence testing for customers in the third quarter.
