Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong has visited Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ multi layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) plant for auto-components in Busan, Samsung said on Thursday.
Lee visited site to inspect operations and encourage employees, the South Korea tech giant said.
The vice chairman heard updates on technology development for high-temperature, high-pressure MLCCs for autocomponents, high-performance, high-capacity MLCCs for smart devices and new electronic modules for cameras and telecommunication, Samsung said.
Lee and executives also discussed mid- to long-term strategy to react to the development of artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and electric cars.
He reportedly said that “changes are happening fast” and that Samsung should be at the lead to bring out innovations.
Last year in June, the vice chairman met with executives of Electro-Mechanics for similar discussions.
Meanwhile, the visit to Busan marks the seventh time that Lee has made an on-site inspection tour to Samsung’s businesses and facilities. In January, he visited Samsung factories in Brazil. He went to the smartphone factory in Gumi, South Korea on March and the semiconductor research lab and home appliance operation on two separate occasions in June. Earlier this month, he visited Samsung’s in-house start-up operation C-Lab.
