LG Uplus has developed network slicing technology that can be used in wired networks ahead of the commercialization of 5G standalone (SA) network in South Korea.
The carrier has completed the development of core equipment and base stations for 5G SA networks, and with the addition of the latest network slicing technology for wired networks, it is ready to deploy 5G SA networks, the company said on Tuesday.
LG applied Nokia’s software defined network (SDN) slicing controller to the IP router. Each equipment can measure network quality directly at the channel level and the SDN controller will choose the best channels based on the condition of the network.
The technology was developed in collaboration with South Korean and overseas equipment makers, the carrier added.
