LG Electronics will launch its dual screen smartphone the LG Wing in October in South Korea, the company announced.
The company is expected to produce some 300,000 units if the phone, TheElec has previously reported.
The phone has a main screen that can be rotated 90 degrees to unveil a second screen underneath. This is called Swivel mode, the company said, and it developed the hinge that allows this by itself.
LG applied its lightweight technology used for the LG Gram notebook on LG Wing.
High durability aluminum alloy was used to make the phone, the company said.
LG said it tested the swivel action over 200,000 times to make sure it works properly.
LG Wing also has what the company calls a gimbal motion camera. Users can hold onto the body of the phone when it is in swivel mode to take picture and videos more stably, the company said.
The new phone is the first product in LG’s Explorer Project lineup. The company has said the lineup will have innovative form factors different from conventional smartphones.
