LG Uplus will launch an autonomous robot with 5G connectivity and real time kinematic technology that will be used to inspect factories, the telco said.
The robot has been tested at oil refinery run by Hyundai Oilbank.
It will use a thermal imaging camera to check to temperatures of equipment in factories and remotely monitor them.
The robot has a margin of error below 10cm when it drives, LG Uplus said. Real time kinematic is an upgrade of GPS positioning and will make the robot drive accurately even further.
The carrier will add intelligent video analysis solutions and gas detecting sensors on the robot to allow it to provide even more functions later.
