BISTel, a semiconductor engineering automation software (SW) company, is expanding its business to the general industry group smart factory field. Through this, the company plans to continue to grow its sales. In addition to the high-tech industries such as semiconductors and displays, in which the company has already demonstrated its strengths, the company plans to expand sales in the smart factory fields such as electronics assembly, consumer electronics, steel, and automobiles within the general industry group.

"This year, we will continue to grow by concentrating on the general industry sector in addition to the high-tech and general industrial fields that we do well," said CTO of BISTel, Jeon Kyeong-Sik. "BISTel has continued to expand its investments. A company of similar size would focus mostly on the domestic market; however, BISTel has two overseas subsidiaries and three regional offices, making it possible to grow even if some regions struggle economically."

This year, BISTel will present its Health Monitoring & Prediction (HMP) and Wafer Quality Predictor (WQP) solutions, which are specialized in prediction. Predictive solutions allow in-advance determination of a problem. It is possible to increase productivity and yield. HMP collects vibration or current of OHT (OverHead Transport) that automatically transports semiconductor wafers and detects abnormalities in advance. The yield can be predicted based on the data. It can be applied not only to semiconductors but also to general industries such as manufacturing, steel, and automobile assembly.

WQP, which will be released in the first quarter, analyzes all the data generated from the production equipment and calculates the wafer quality in real time. The goal is to provide meaningful information to the manufacturer. At Semicon Korea 2019, the company will show the prototype product. To boost its ability to analyze sensing data, BISTel has partnered with Kx Systems, a supplier of US time series databases last year. The alliance with Kx Systems, headquartered in Silicon Valley, is expected to increase the data collection, management, and analysis capabilities. The first solution that applied the Kx system time series database will be released in the first half of this year.

BISTel is one of the most technologically advanced companies in the field of semiconductor engineering automation software and services. Since its inception in 2000, it has grown to supply equipment engineering system (EES) solutions to leading-edge manufacturers. EES is a system that collects and analyzes data from production equipment and, when problems arise, informs the central manager to take prompt action.

It is a detection-specific solution among 'abnormal detection-analysis-prediction' of a smart factory. Another detection solution, DFD (Dynamic Fault Detection), is a system that goes one step further than the existing equipment fault detection/classifier (FDC). It collects the data and automatically finds the pattern. DFD is already used by leading domestic, Japanese, and American semiconductor companies.

BISTel's goal is continuous optimization of the manufacturing process. BISTel’s new Adaptive Control AI solution will accelerate the realization of future smart factories based on the three core functions: anomaly detection, analysis, and prediction.

BISTel is headquartered in Seocho-dong, Seoul. It provides solutions to eight of the world's top ten semiconductor manufacturing companies. The overseas sales account for more than half of its annual sales. There are 20 employees working in Silicon Valley and 30 employees working in China. There are about 7 to 8 people in Nagoya, Japan tasked with dealing with Sharp and Toshiba. In 2018, the sales are estimated at 35bn won. There are 320 employees. The sales per person are about 100 million won.
