Hanmi Semiconductor has posted its highest every quarterly profits in the third quarter of 2020.
The company posted operating profits of 24.9 billion won and sales of 77.9 billion won in the quarter. It is an operating margin rate of 32%.
It was Hanmi’s best performance since its founding in 1980, the company said.
Operating profits and sales rose 201.9% and 100.6%, respectively, from the same time period in 2019.
Hanmi said it has become the world’s top vendor in electro magnetic interference (EMI) shield equipment in the second quarter.
High sales of EMI shield equipment helped its third quarter performance, the company said.
EMI shielding process is applied more and more to chips for 5G, electric vehicles, autonomous cars, smartphones ans wireless earphones.
This demand increase will continue to the fourth quarter, Hanmi said, as it expects more orders for its EMI shield equipment as well as vision placement and bonder kits.
Hanmi Semiconductor vice chairman Kwak Dong-shin said the company saw high demand from overseas, accounting for over 77% its annual sales from 2010 to 2019.
