DA Technology has won its first order for its laser notching equipment used in electric vehicle (EV) battery production.
The company said it was supplying the kit to a global battery company based in South Korea.
DA didn’t mention the company’s name but it is likely LG Chem, which is already its major customer for other equipment.
The laser notching equipment finished development in August. It uses laser sources instead of pressing to make the cathode and anode tabs.
The kit boasts a speed of 1200mm/s __ DA has said it will increase productivity by 1.5 times compared to other pressing kit.
More and more pressing kit will prove from plating to laser, the South Korean equipment maker said, and it expected demand for its laser kit to soar in 2021.
