Samsung Display said on Wednesday that EVP Choi Joo-sun will lead the company as the new CEO.
Previous CEO Lee Dong-hoon will become an adviser to the company.
Choi heads Samsung Display’s large display business and will also keep that post, Samsung Display said.
Kim Sung-chul, who led the company’s small display business as EVP, was promoted to president. He is considered an expert in OLED technology.
Choi, a KAIST graduate, is an expert in semiconductor design, the company said. He has been leading the development of quantum dot (QD) display panels.
Samsung Display is planning to invest 13.1 trillion won up to 2025 in to QD displays.
The company has recently begun trials for its QD-OLED line this month, according to people familiar with the matter.
