Intel on Thursday unveiled three new Optane memory products and three solid-state drives (SSD) made with 144-layer 3D NAND flash.
The US chip giant unveiled: Optane SSD P5800X, Optane Memory H20 SSD and its Gen 3 Optane Persistent Memory (code name: Crow Pass).
Optane SSD P5800X is Intel’s first product to support PCI Express 4.0. It is three times faster than its predecessor, DC P4800X which supported PCI Express 3.0, Intel said. Quality of service has improved by 40% and the newer SSD offers three times the bandwidth.
H20 SSD is aimed at consumers. Intel said it is optimized for gaming and contents production. It uses Optane memory and quad level cell 3D NAND.
The Gen 3 Optane Persistent Memory can be used with Xeon Scalable Processor to have increased response time. It can be connected to the CPU through DDR bus.
Intel also unveiled three SSD with 144-layer triple level cell NAND flash: SSD 670p, QLC-based SSD D7-P5510 and TLC-based SSD D5-P5316.
SSD 670p provides Pyrite 2.0 security and other end-to-end data protection features. SSD D7-P5510 is a high-performance SSD for main stream and cloud application. It comes in 3.84TB and 7.68TB in U.2 form factor. Performance has improved 50% and speed a 100 time compared to its predecessor, Intel said. It will launch in the fourth quarter this year.
SDD D5-P5316 has 128GB die and has 200% improved reading speed compared to hard disk drives (HDD). Random read speed has improved 38%. It comes in 15.36TB and 30.72TB. It is the first 30.72TB PCIe SSD that supports maximum PB per one rack. It will launch in the first half of 2021.
The SSDs will be produced at Intel’s Dailian factory. Optane products will be produced in New Mexico in the US.
