Electronics component maker SoluM said on Monday that it has supplied Galaxy SmartTag to Samsung Electronics.
The recently launched Galaxy SmartTag uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to connect with a smartphone. It is used as a smart tag on objects that allows for smartphone owners to find them when lost.
The tag also sues Samsung’s SmartThings network for a crowd GPS function that allows for it to be located through other Galaxy devices besides the smartphone when not in Bluetooth range.
SoluM said the supply of the tags has opened an opportunity for the company to expand its Internet of Things business.
