South Korea vacuum robot maker Raon Tech has won two major semiconductor customers in South Korea.
The company has been supplying its vacuum robot to one of them in 2011.
It has passed the demo test from another company and has been producing the robots from them since early 2020, TheElec has learned.
Raon Tech produce robots that transport silicon wafers from the transfer module to the vacuum chambers.
The robots used must have motors outside to avoid the accumulation of particles and must be heat resistant as chambers run on temperatures between 200 to 700 Celsius.
Raon Tech’s seven axis robots were graded higher than overseas rivals such as Brooks and Ulvac.
The company is supplying its robots to Jusung Engineering, Wonik IPS and TES. The robots are used in the production line of the final customers.
Raon Tech plans to supply its robots to foreign customers going forward. It will expand them to the pharmaceutical and bio sectors going forward, it also said.
