Semiconductor testing firm APACT said on Tuesday that it recorded 49.6 billion won in sales and 6.5 billion won in operating income for the entire year of 2020. Its net income for the year was 6.7% billion won.
Sales increased 6% from 2019 while operating income declined 19.8% from the previous year. Net income increased 59%.
APACT said cost increases from spending in its new facilities caused operating income to decline.
The company placed test during burn-in (TDBI) systems in its new facility in Eumseong last year. The systems are operating normally and will expand its production capacity to boost its new package and non-memory businesses, APACT said.
Testing of DRAM made by SK Hynix accounts for 95% of the APACT’s sales. The testing firm is aiming expand into system semiconductors to diversify its revenue stream.
An APACT spokesperson said the company expects better earnings in 2021 thanks to the uptick in the global semiconductor market and its hiring of new talents to boost competence.
