Memory firm to pay US$40 million in royalties
SK Hynix has settled its patent lawsuit with Netlist.
The South Korean memory maker will pay royalties to the latter under their patent cross-licensing agreement, the company said.
SK Hynix will be paying around US$40 million for use of Netlist’ patents.
In 2016, Netlist filed a patent infringement lawsuit against SK Hynix to the US International Trade Commission. SK Hynix countered by request the Patent Trial and Appeal Board to verify the patent.
The ITC ruled that SK Hynix didn’t infringe Netlist’s patents. The memory maker won similar lawsuits in China and Germany as well.
NASDAQ-listed Netlist was founded in 2000 by CEO Hong Chun-ki, who formerly worked at LG Semiconductors.
