SK IE Technology’s second battery separator factory in Changzhou, China has begin operation, the company said on Tuesday.
Out of the factory’s total production capacity of 340 million meter-square, 170 million meter-square has gone live, the subsidiary to SK Innovation said.
Combined with the first factory’s production capacity of 340 million meter-square, SK IE Technology has now secured 510 million meter-square production capacity in China. The amount is enough to supply separators to half a million electric vehicles a year, the company said.
In total, SK IE Technology has secured an annual production capacity of 1.04 billion meter-square a year globally. It has additional factories in South Korea and China.
The firm is aiming to secure production capacity of 2.73 billion meter-square by 2024.
