Integrates amplifiers and switch into one package

NXP Semiconductors said on Thursday that it has launched its new quad flat non-leaded package (QFN) RF front end solution for Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.
The solution, called WLAN7205C, will be used in the recently launched OnePlus 9 smartphone.
The new solution not only supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard but also the 6GHz spectrum.
It comes in a small package that includes the power amplifier, switch and low noise amplifier.
This will increase the range of Wi-Fi communications for phones, NXP said.
QFN packages are located close to the antenna of devices which will reduce trace losses, unlike dual channel or modular solutions, the chip maker said. This will increase battery life and the speed of data transmission, NXP said.
