Samsung SDI said on Tuesday that it has posted 3.33 trillion won in sales and 295.2 billion won in operating income in the second quarter.
Sales jumped 30.3% year-on-year while operating income surged 184.4% over the same time period.
Sales was Samsung SDI’s highest in record. The company credited the strong performance of its electric vehicle (EV) battery business for the growth.
Its energy business unit, which includes the EV battery business, recorded 2.71 trillion on in sales, an increase of 41.2% year-on-year.
Samsung SDI expect supply of EV batteries as well as energy storage systems to Europe and Asia to increase in the second half of the year.
Its electronic material business is also expected to see sales growth from high demand for chip and OLED materials, the company said.
