Cosmo AM&T will start operations in November of its factory that recently completed its expansion.
The company added 2800mm width coaters to the factory, which can manufacture 14 million meter square of release films used in multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) per month, Cosmo AM&T said on Tuesday.
The factory is at Chungju and the company is currently testing the newly installed equipment.
It will start mass production once the customer gives quality approval.
Its main customer for the films will be Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
The release film acts as substrates for ceramic sheets to be placed on during MLCC production.
Electrode is printed on the sheet; after this process, the film is removed. The sheet goes through thermal processing, cutting and packing to become MLCCs.
Cosmo AM&T currently has a capacity of 56 million meter square per month for release film production; it aims to increase this to 70 million meter square per month by next year.
Meanwhile, the company also recently expanded its cathode active material production capacity from 10,000 metric tonnes to 20,000 metric tonnes.
