Fab equipment maker STI is planning to set up a new subsidiary in the US, TheElec has learned.
It will be its fourth subsidiary overseas __ it has ones in China, Taiwan and Singapore.
STI supplies central chemical supply systems (CCSS) used in wafer fabrication and display panel production. CCSS, as of the third quarter this year, accounted for 91% of its revenue.
It also provides wet systems for display production.
STI’s customers include Samsung, SK Hynix, Samsung Display, EXYTE and SCS.
The company is likely setting up a US subsidiary for its customer Samsung Electronics, which has a foundry fab at Austin, Texas.
The South Korean tech giant is also planning to build a new fab in the US, which will be a boon to STI.
An STI spokesperson said while it was planning to form a subsidiary in the US, it was in the early stages of discussions.
