Starting in 2023
Kolon Plastics is aiming to supply silencer housing for Nexo, Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, TheElec has learned.
The plastic maker is in talks with the South Korean automobile giant to start supplying in 2023, sources said.
The silencer housing is used to reduce noise from the vapors being emitted from the hydrogen fuel-cell turning into water.
Kolon Plastics is using its own plastic that can handle pressure well to make the housing.
The plastic maker is also developing a plastic liner that goes into the hydrogen fuel-cell tank.
It is planning to start manufacturing tanks that can withstand 700bar of pressure.
