PNT has recently acquired additional lands around its battery equipment plant at Gumi to build a fourth factory, TheElec has learned.
The company secured 115,702 meter-square of space at Gumi’s industrial zone to build the factory with around 30 billion won, sources said.
Once the fourth factory goes live, PNT will be able to manufacture battery equipment enough to power an annual battery production capacity of 200GWh, enough for 300,000 electric vehicles.
PNT’s main product is its electrode equipment which it supplies to LG Energy Solution, SK On and Samsung SDI.
SK On is its main customer, which is actively using PNT’s electrode equipment at its factories.
PNT also offers notching equipment used to form the positive and negative tabs on the batteries.
This equipment was supplied to Samsung SDI for use at their second factory in Goed, Hungary.
PNT recently became the largest shareholder of battery separator equipment maker Myungsung TNS.
Myungsung TNS had previously offered its separator coater to LG Chem for research and development.
