Chinese battery equipment maker Lead Intelligent said on Tuesday that it has signed a supply contract with France’s Automotive Cell Company (ACC).
ACC is a joint venture between Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest automaker, and SAFT, a subsidiary of French energy firm Total.
ACC’s battery factory is located at Nersac in southern France.
Lead said its latest deal was worth 14GWh, enough to power over 200,000 electric vehicles with a drive distance of over 500km.
ACC is Lead’s second major customer in Europe after Sweden’s Northvolt.
The Chinese company said its equipment made its first battery sample in three weeks, beating ACC’s expectations. It used its expertise from a previous project, Lead stressed.
Meanwhile, ACC is planning to spend 5 billion euros in France and China to build more battery factories for an annual production capacity of over 120GWh.
