Dongwha Electrolyte is preparing to produce electrolytes used in batteries at its factory in Soskut, Hungary, TheElec has learned.
The company was actively hiring local workers in preparation, sources said. Dongwha will hire approximately 40 workers for the factory is aiming to increase its operation rate as much as possible by the second half of 2024.
The factory has a capacity of 36,000 metric tonnes per year and will also house an N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) processing facility.
The factory will service customer battery maker SK On, which is preparing the operation of its pilot line at its first factory (SKOH2) at Ivansca.
SKOH2 houses 12 lines and is being built for an annual capacity of 30GWh.
Dongwha is expected to start supplying electrolytes to SKOH2 before the fourth quarter. It will start supplying them in canisters initially but is prepared to supply them in tanks.
It is supply electrolytes using canisters to SK On’s facility in Komarom.
Meanwhile, Dongwha is also preparing to build a facility that can store lithium and other additives needed to make electrolytes.
