Plated with nickel
Lotte Energy Materials said on Tuesday that is has developed a nickel-plated copper foil that can be used in solid-state battery.
The company didn’t reveal how thick the nickel overlay over the foil was.
Copper foils are used as current collectors on battery anodes. As solid-state batteries don’t use liquid electrolyte and sulfur can corrode the copper, overlaying them with nickel is a must.
Lotte Energy Materials said its new foil was being tested by major domestic customers.
The company said it was also researching various surface treatment technologies for the foil to secure adhesiveness.
