Chip offers 40Gbps speed
Samsung said on Thursday that it has developed the industry’s first 24Gb GDDR7 DRAM made with its 12-nanometer process node.
The graphic DRAM is expected to be verified for use by its major GPU customer for use in the AI computing system within the year and launch commercially next year, the South Korean tech giant said.
Samsung said the chip offers a high capacity of 24Gb while it clocks over 40Gbps in speed, achieved through PAM3 signal method.
The company also touted that the chip offered 30% improvement in power efficiency compared to its predecessor.
