Qualcomm has beefed upped the performance of its automotive SoCs with more CPU and AI power.
The US chip giant on Tuesday at Qualcomm Summit showcased its latest chips Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite, which will be available for sampling in 2025.
Both SoCs are powered by Oryon CPU designed to catered to them, the company said. AI performance of Cockpit Elite is twelve times of that of Cockpit while Ride Elite comes with a transformer accelerator and vector engine, Qualcomm said.
The pair comes with smartphone SoC level of performance and power efficiency as well, the company said.
They both support software defined vehicles and can operate multiple applications without performance drops, Qualcomm said.
They also meet ASIL-D safety standards and guarantee reliable quality-of-service for ADAS functions, it said.
Their AI-enhanced image signal processor support over 40 multimodal sensors, including up to 20 high-resolution cameras for 360-degree coverage and in-cabin monitoring, Qualcomm also said.
Snapdragon Cockpit Elite in particular offers on-device AI for advanced 3D graphics, optimized gaming, and multimedia features. Safety, security and API compatibility features allows for an independent virtual machine to offer different applications on dashboards, infotainment, and passengers.
