Korean semiconductor testing equipment maker Uni-test has secured a Chinese memory chip company as a new client for burn-in testing equipment as it moves to diversify its portfolio, according to industry sources on Jan. 28.
Uni-test is reportedly in last-stage talks, meaning that the firm may be supplying as early as the second quarter of this year. Industry watchers expect revenues of around KRW 20 billion from the firm. “Uni-test posted a similar amount of sales from supplying testing equipment to a North American memory chip maker in 2019,” said one market watcher.
Uni-test had supplied SSD testing equipment to the North American and Asian production lines at the chip maker. The Korean supplier is now anticipating more sales on bigger chip supplies.
