Local supplier Dreamtech said on Mar. 20 that it has exclusively supplied capacitive fingerprint sensor modules to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series.
This comes after Dreamtech supplied a similar capacitive sensor module to the Galaxy Fold – also exclusively – in 2019 after first striking a deal to supply Samsung Electronics in 2016.
In 2019, Dreamtech had expanded by acquiring camera module firm Namuga, via which the firm gained foothold in the optical FoD module business currently dominated by Partron and MCNEX. Dreamtech also entered the 3D ToF business.
Other than smartphones, Dreamtech supplies fingerprint recognition modules to portable SSDs and doorlocks. The company was listed on the Korean bourse in March, 2019. Its long-term goal is to become a global ODM firm by stepping up capacity from its production bases in China and Vietnam.
