
LG Electronics and LG Uplus has signed a comprehensive agreement with KT to collaborate in AI, the companies announced Wednesday.
The three has agreed to share and co-develop core AI technologies, create new products, services and solutions using AI as well as to use AI to solve social issues together.
The LG affiliates will join KT's alliance, called AI One Team, formed four months ago with other companies, universities and government research groups.
The South Korean hardware giant and the two telcos will also work to foster AI talents together, they said.
Their first project will be to develop a pandemic prevention model, in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, using AI. KT and LG Uplus will combine their roaming data with LG Electronics’ AI platform and products.
LG and KT will also use AI to build solutions that prevent environmental harm and increase industrial safety, they said.
They will also combine their respective AI platforms, KT’s Giga Genie and LG ThinQ, to develop new services.
