The 50Mp ISOCELL GN1 has phase detection auto-focus
Samsung has launched a new 50-megapixel (Mp) image sensor aimed at smartphones that comes with strengthened auto-focus, the company said.
ISOCELL GN1 comes with 1.2 micrometer-sized pixels and and has phase detection auto-focus, or PDAF, Samsung said.
The PDAF will allow the sensor to produce image resolution level to that of a 100Mp sensor.
The image sensor also has the company’s Tetracell technology, in which four pixels are combined into one to absorb light better. This allows the taking of brighter pictures in dark environments.
ISOCELL GN1 also supports video recording in 8K resolution at 30 frames-per-second. It also has image stabilization and real-time HDR.
