LG Display’s organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel for TV has received the Flicker Free Award from TUV Rheinland, the South Korean company said.
This means LG’s OLED panels from 44 to 88 inches has all received the certificate from both the German standard firm as well as US counterpart Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the company said.
Panels can flicker, both visibly and invisibly, that can cause headaches and eye soreness as well as long-term negative effect on viewer’s visual health.
LG’s OLED panels received a 0% rating in invisible flickers from UTV Rheinland. It received 1.3% from UL __ below the baseline of 9.6%.
In general, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TVs have more invisible flickers occuring compared to OLED as they have a LED backlight that flickers when emitting light.
