LG Electronics has launched its microLED signage brand called LG Magnit, the company said on Thursday.
The company said the brand name its combination of magnificent and nit. The model names will be LSAB, LG said.
The signage has micrometer-sized LED attached directly to the board that emits light.
MicroLED signage boast clearer picture quality and wider viewing angle compared to LED signage, LG said.
The company didn’t reveal the size of the LEDs for the new signage. MicroLED conventionally refers to LED smaller than 100 micrometers. Those that are bigger but below in size to 200 micrometers are usually called miniLED.
LG said the surface of the signage also has its front-face black coating technology applied.
This allows for the signage to express deeper blacks and increase contrast ratio, the company said. It also protects the screen from humidity and dust, LG added.
Magnit is powered by an artificial intelligence (AI) processor that optimizes picture quality.
It comes in modular form __ each cabinet is 600mm x 337.5mm size and have a thickness of 44.9mm and they can be attached together to form larger screen sizes.
Magnit will also be cabless, meaning the cabinets don’t require cables to interact with each other, which makes them easier to install. The distance between the pixels are 0.9mm, LG said.
