SK Innovation on Friday criticized LG Energy Solution over the recent decision by US’S Patent Office.
SK claimed the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision to reject its request to investigate whether LG’s patent was valid was a matter of procedure and that LG was using it as a publicity stunt.
SK stressed that the board mentioned that LG’s patent, Patent 517, may be invalid. The patent, registered as Patent 210 in South Korea, has been judged to be invalid by a court in South Korea back in 2013.
SK said Apple and Google were fighting over the invalidation of the patent in question.
LG claimed that if SK was so confident it shouldn’t have filed 8 lawsuits to prove its claim given that it is so costly.
LG said it was a shame that SK was manipulating is mistake as an advantage.
The pair are awaiting the final verdict by US’s International Trade Commission expected on February 10.
