Firm aims to produce a total of around 120,000 tonnes of refractories a year
Posco Chemical said on Wednesday that it has built a new ‘smart factory’ that will produce refractories.
The company spent 49.2 billion won to build the factory that spans 4,759 square meters. Construction started in 2020.
It has a capacity produce 21,700 metric tonnes of fluorine refractories a year.
Posco Chemical said thanks to the automation aspects of the new factory, productivity per worker increased from 615 metric tonnes to 980 metric tonnes.
The company said all processes at the factory are automated. It also supports real-time quality management, Posco Chemical said.
Last year, the company produced 114,000 metric tonnes of refractories per year.
Posco Chemical is aiming to increase this to 120,700 metric tonnes per year by 2022
