20GWh capacity worth
Chinese battery equipment maker Lead said on Tuesday that it will be supplying Volkswagen.
The turn-key deal will see Lead supply kits for electrode, assembly and formation processes for a capacity of 20GWh.
The equipment will be installed next year at the factory in Salzgitter, Germany.
Lead will have around 100 staff in Europe to expand in the market there and collaborate with local firms Siemens, ABB, Festo and others, it said.
The Chinese company has subsidiaries in over ten countries. In Europe, besides Volkswagen, it had also won supply orders from Northvolt and Automotive Cell Company.
