SK Hynix said on Wednesday that it has launched a new mobile LPDDR5 DRAM with a speed of 9.6Gbps.
Called LPDDR5T, or LPDDR5 Turbo, it is 13% faster than its predecessor LPDDR5X launched two months ago. LPDDR5X had a speed of 8.5Gbps.
The South Korean chip giant said it aims to continue serving customers with various options and lead the mobile DRAM space.
Its latest mobile DRAM is aimed at leading the space before the launch of LPDDR6, SK Hynix added.
It has already provided samples of its latest chip to a customer in package form.
The package, which comes in 16GB capacity, boasts a data processing speed of 77GB per second, or enough to process 15, Full HD resolution movies.
SK Hynix will begin mass production of LPDDR5T during the second half of 2023 using its Gen 4 (1a) 10nm node.
Like LPDDR5X, the chip giant applied high-k metal gates on LPDDR5T.
