Company likely to supply them to Samsung
BGF Ecomaterials said on Thursday that it has acquired semiconductor gas company KNW.
It will acquire 42.76% stock in KNW for 63.5 billion won. At a later date, through a share offering, it will acquire an additional 3.92 million shares for 50 billion won to gain a total of 56.7% stock in KNW.
KNW was founded in 2001 and offers materials used in consumer electronics, automobiles and semiconductors.
It has a wholly owned subsidiary called Fluorine Korea that produces special gases such as F2 and SF6 used in chip production.
Fluorine Korea’s revenue accounted for 56% of KNW’s total revenue in 2022.
BGF Group already supplies various gases used in chip production to Samsung; it will likely add more with the acquisition of KNW.
