Samsung has appointed new heads of development for foundry and DRAM, TheElec has learned.
Samsung’s chip division, called Device Solution, recently commenced reorganization of its executive vice president-level officials.
CTO of its Foundry Business has been named Gitae Jeong, who was previously the head of development. His replacement for the head of development is Jahun Koo.
In the Memory Business, the head of DRAM development has been named Hwang Sang-jun, who previously headed strategic marketing.
Heads of advanced development, design and strategic marketing have been named You Chang-shik, Oh Tae-young and Yun Ha-ryong, respectively.
Samsung’s move to change the leadership team, which being done mid-year is unusual, likely reflects the company’s current difficulties.
It is falling behind TSMC in foundry market share while in memory, it is facing difficulty facing market share in high bandwidth memory.
Meanwhile, the Network Business, under the Device Experience division, has also formed a new advanced development team for the first time.
