For 4.48 billion won
Biolog Device said it has acquired a 58.75% stake in OLED driver IC firm Hivics for 4.48 billion won.
Hivics was founded in 2014 and is a fabless firm that designs system semiconductors. It recorded 8.7 billion won in sales last year.
The firm also uses TSMC, UMC and MLMC to manufacture application specific chips for a South Korean customer.
Biolog was in the process of reorganizing its camera component business.
Once this is complete, it will expand the business’ synergy with Hivics to foster the later as a system semiconductor powerhouse.
Besides OLED driver IC, Hivics also manufactures SRAM and T-CON and TED for OLED panels.
